Tuberculosis - a time bomb against human race???

A single case of suspected XDR or extensive drug resistance tubercuosis has created flutter in american health system. The contacts of the patient are being traced to rule out any likelihood of contracting the deadly bacilli.
Now let us speak about India, the case in question had travelled from India , dhe might have infected much more people during her stay in India and no one is bothered. Doctors here treat hundreds of TB cases daily and the incidence of multidrug (MDR) tuberculosis is about 4-5% among new cases and about 12-17%among the retreatment cases of tuberculosis.
The TB epidemic in India has blown out of proportion, it is impossible to control it in near future. The epidemic of diabetes has further added to this difficulty which wqs created by emergence of HIV. The HIV and TB have formed a deadly nexus and has waged war against mankind. Adding to the woes is the financial implications it has on the family of the patient.
In the past 40 years or so, Only one new drug has been approved by FDA for treatment of tuberculosis, this shows the callous attitude of the pharma companies towards investing in TB research. Unless controlled TB will be a time bomb against human race.
